QE3 maybe for real this time, huh? Good for the shorter term. But after that…?

My April $425’s will be gone long before April expiry
I mean this without a shred of sarcasm (rare for me), my stress level has dropped dramatically since I stopped buying calls. ITM spreads go up to the very last day, as does selling options.
JD,
What kind of spreads are you using (Calendar, Credit)? I am trying to reduce my stress level and want to start using spreads. Any advice would be very appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Looking ahead, I note Thursday January 19 is going to be quite a day..
Google, Microsoft and IBM all report earnings that day. These tech titans may have something to say about how the next day, OE Friday, plays out for most tech stocks, including Apple.

AAPL: to boldly go where no stock has gone before

Good thing my max loss is a fairly low percentage of my portfolio. :oh:
I’m out of those Jan 20 weeklies at the first sign of upside…or trouble.

Labor, supplies, labor supply, supply chain…you will ALWAYS hear this kind of…stuff when the media/rumormongers anticipate an impending iPhone or iPad launch.

For sure! And you can bet your bottom dollar that Foxconn will be more then willing to increase production to compensate for any slack among competing production companies.

If we stay within this $420-$430 range next week we will be free to run like the devil following the earnings release, ifs the number comes out anything like the numbers DawnTrader or Zaky have thrown out there. If TC announces a dividend during the call, then all bets are on for a serious ride up.
That’s all I am looking for this week. Bought $415/$420s Friday at $3.10. Crossing my fingers for a gap up on Tuesday (I hate 3 day weekends).

Whenever I see the word “may” (or acronyms of such) I immediately think unsubstantiated rumor/hit generator.

Black Swan Counter: 9 (Banks need money, Jobs needs a break, Geithner has no plan, Cuomo’s grandstanding, .Gov needs a hobby, GS works for money, flash crash, is that bubbling crude?).
For those who look, a flash allows one to see farther.

Trouble in Greece again. It’s like an irresistible force (AAPL with earnings) vs. an immovable object (the market with Europe). My money is on Apple but it could be interesting how it plays out.

I hate 2 day weekends!

Seriously I hate when the market is closed at all. Friday afternoons carry an air of sadness, like missing an old friend. I would be fine with just a day off here and there. Maybe a few holidays.Signature

Welcome, Jason! If I recall correctly, JD’s primarily a “bull call spread” (vertical debit) guy. For more on options, see our “Options Strategy” threads. Also highly recommended reading:
