Barcelona Mobile World Conference
The whole mobile industry meets every year in Barcelona, and the Mobile World Conference is on again now. And the most significant thing? Apple has never attended. Apple’s business is based on a long term relationship with the end user. The rest of the industry is based on a web of cartel exploitation of captive end-users for profit. iPhone must be the biggest end-run in the history of the world. See what Cult of Mac says about the timing of the iPad 3 invite on the day of Google’s Android presentation.
The most interesting thing to me has been the 41 megapixel camera in Nokia’s new 808 smartphone. (Especially as I’ve just plunked down my deposit on a Nikon D800 with a mere 36megapixels!)
Anyone else seen anything interesting?
I was there last year. At that time, Google was everywhere with Android and was dominating the show. I am curious as to whether they have the same jump and mind share this year. Back then the Xoom was still news too. So was the PlayBook. Reviewing ancient history is so much fun.
