I know that Apple makes north of $600 for every iPhone they sell. Can anyone tell me approximately how much Apple makes from the sale of each iPad?
A very rough number will do. I’m trying to put together some thoughts on the possibility of a 7 inch iPad and current ASP is going to be a big part of that equation.
Garcias.

Just to clarify Apple doesn’t “make” $600 per iPhone, the average selling price for the handset is around $600. As far as the iPad the SKU are 5,6,7 for the new iPad wifi and 4 for iPad 2 We are around 560 ASP. Apple sells the 3.5 IPad for $199 a 7” model would require a larger LCD/touch module & battery so they should be able to hit a 250-300 price point. -

My bad. Very imprecise language on my part.

I just read on another thread that the net for an iPad is around $175. Would you concur?

My estimate is about $300 BOM for the 16GB iPad with a $500 retail we have GM of $200. The other SKUs have better margin. NAND for Apple,is probably around .80c per GB.

It will become increasingly “clear” how Apple’s margins work out moving forward. iPhones and iPads dominate the balance sheet.
If Q2 brings a margin mix of 47.4, and revs will be similar this quarter, then…

Really? $200 profit out of $300 revenues for the low-cost iPad? Impressive.

. Just for clarification, 200 is not profit you have SGA, R&D and Uncle Sam wants his 35% for domestic sales.

Ah, that’s why I wrote it back the way I did. I knew it sounded high. Thanks.
