Hey, it IS Apple’s most important new product…for the next several months, anyway.

So, recent iPad 2/new iPad owners, the floor is open.

App/accessory recommendations, rants ‘n raves, issues, etc?  Veteran iPad users are of course welcome to chime in.

    Quick update from me:

    Still playing Infinity Blade 2.

Marware EcoVue 2 case still holding up OK to moderate use (well, I _did_ just buy it a month ago), though the new iPad is clearly a bit too big for the folio-style case.  The upside, it takes something on the order of a JUDO CHOP! LOL to shake the iPad loose by accident.

Battery life is no-worries day-to-day, and heat issues are nonexistent.  Not using any Retina-enabled third-party iPad apps.  As I expected, running through 2GB of data is really, really hard to do as long as you avoid video on LTE.

I still miss Alarms, Calculator, Stocks and the usage indicator.  But Alarm Clock HD Free (or something) and PCalc free fit the bill for the first two.

I don’t use my iPad a _ton_, but it’s extremely versatile and it’s already proven itself with flying colors for light-duty computing on the go.  I can type for a good long while on it (having the built-in stand with my case is a big help).  Maybe I’ll experiment with VNC-type stuff one of these days to add functionality.

I’m alll the way across the country on vacation in Maine. I never expected to use the forward camera but use it daily to rapidly email photos to friends and family.

My iPad cameras use so far:  Zero.  But good to know it’s there I guess.

Retina display makes a huge difference! I used to read e-books on my iPhone, now it’s almost exclusively iPad. Reading websites is also much better on the iPad vs MB Pro. Text almost looks fuzzy on the Mac.

Verizon LTE rocks! Verizon customer service sucks! They first activated the recurring 2GB data plan when I had explicitly requested the 1GB prepaid plan. After way too much fuss, I activated the 1GB plan only to discover that it was also recurring. No warning as I approached the limit and then my account was automatically charged another $20. They refunded the charge and claim that it is now prepaid, but we’ll see next time I activate it.

Bravo for dictation! It’s especially suited for messages and short email. Accuracy has been very good. Hardly any latency on LTE and close to the same on WiFi.

I don’t really have much need for it, but I pack a stylus for drawing and the occasional note taking session when it’s not feasible to dictate. I prefer a larger diameter stylus: elago Stylus Grip and Cosmonaut are great.

Best apps for writing are Notability and Bamboo Paper. ArtRage and Paper by 53 are good for art.

Aside from iCloud, DropBox now offers 5GB free storage and SkyDrive upgraded the 7GB to 25GB for existing users. Both iPad apps work well.

Video apps: Netflix, PBS, Khan Academy, ABC Player, Bloomberg TV+, Trailers and Al Jazeera.

News aggregator apps: Flipboard and SkyGrid

PDF readers: Adobe Reader and GoodReader

    Other: scottevest Revolution jacket

The MB Pro is now my “desktop” Mac and hardly ever leaves home. I always bring the iPhone and the iPad goes along for the ride 95% of the time.

I bought my first iPad earlier this month and love it. I got the iPad 3, 32G, WiFi.
The display is great. Videos are great. I mostly use it as a reader and to surf the web while on the sofa. It is the go to item now, rather than my iPhone or Mac while I am at the house.

One gripe is the number of videos than I cannot play. They either require Flash or the link does not download (the player does not load). Hopefully, these occurrences will diminish in the future.

I’m a new iPad owner. I’ve used it a handful of time and find the interface just “OK”. I’d probably use it for travel but other than that it won’t get turned ON. I MUCH prefer the trackpad/keyboard/larger-screen interface of my 13” MBP.
