I wanted to bump a very under-reported/commented-upon story/rumor.

Nice bump(s).
The words real and spectacular come to mind…ala Seinfeld…or was this pic meant to be in the Chart Talk thread. Need to find the name of this technical pattern.
It is not a head and shoulders nor a cup and handle. This much I know….

Double Top???

Poached from the Weekend Update thread:
Thoughts?
I think a lot has to do with whether iOS 6 is ready. I’ll be watching the betas closely. If july goes well and we might have a golden master by mid-August…...why not?
A back to school event in late August with the phone available on Labor Day weekend…..would be awesome….
If iOS6 can reach Gold Master with 4 betas, then yes. Otherwise, September.
BTW. The iPhone 5 image on the link blows IMO.

Huge disappointment if there is no September launch. September is 6 months after march iPad launch.
-
Huge upside surprise if the iPhone is announced any earlier than October 4, 2012.

I think it’s a lock we’ll at least get an announcement in September. And I think iOS6 is the least likely cause for any delay. I just can’t believe Apple would wait until October unless there were production constraints (and I do not see this).

Hey, the pieces are there. And if’s an A5X/adapt from the iPad deal, the hardware engineering side of the equation would be somewhat simpler than if it were a truly new-gen SoC architecture.
Still, this is an APPLE case redesign of some sort we’re talking here. It’s more than a Galaxy S III plasticky backing. A “timely” new iPhone launch would provide great reassurance that Apple still has a handle on the practical side of fanatical attention to detail.

If the new iPhone 5 would have a slight curvature like this old design concept instead of the squarish 4s form, the change would add an additional wow factor imo. I know the rumors say otherwise.

With Apple, I think it’ll continue to be hip to be square (with rounded edges).
If there’s one thing about the design, it’s nigh-bulletproof. It’s one of the most solid, durable-feeling smartphones out there.

I agree but its a little hard to pick up on a flat surface quickly and securely. You need have a good grip. Even with a minimalist case.

The rumored iPhone 5 design shouldn’t impose many production challenges Apple hasn’t previously met with the current design.

Dammit Red. The photo at the top really distracts my AAPL thinking process. Do you have any more? :-D
