Well, the solar cycle says September 21, but much common wisdom thinks of summer as June, july, august, ...then fall is when kids go back to school..or anytime around Labor Day. I would not get too hung up on the literalness of the mention of Fall. If they can get the golden master out, they will get the phone out as soon as possible. I would not be shocked by an event on September 11, with phones available ten days later ( so it will be Fall. :wink: ). The use of the term Fall instead of using September or October gives maximum flexibility in case of delays.

I’m not hung up on it. But do note that iOS 5, and iPhone 4S, launched in October, which was well within the “official” definition of Fall.
This year, I’m just putting more trust in Tim and Co. Expectations are reset to around October and there is no one better at Apple to help the trains run on time - and yet not at the expense of the “Apple Way.”

He had to give SOME kind of time frame. And we know that he wasn’t going to say “Summer” or “September” or even “October.”
“This fall” was the only logical time frame he could realistically give.
