I haven’t seen the result of Sponge’s coin flip so I don’t have an opinion yet (it’ll be the opposite of the coin toss).

Clueless. A $46 earnings @ a P/E of 13 makes AAPL about $600, and @ 13.5 makes AAPL about $620.
At $600 with the TTE of $41 the P/E would run up to 14.6, and @ $620 the P/E would have to run up to 15.1 before earnings.
I’m new to this but would put the highest run up to earnings @ $620, with a chance of a short pull back before the run up.

The direction is up. We’re still in an uptrend - and I think we held it even on last Thursday and Friday - and Mondays are usually up days anyway.
We have a wall of calls at 590 this early in the week, and with any momentum, maybe we could blow though and get into the mid 590s.
Macros should be good to neutral, so maybe it’s time.

Seeing as Apple reset its fiscal quarter calender with Decembers thirteen weeks, I think earnings will come after Options expiration - a good three and a half weeks after the quarter end, just like the April earnings announcement.

95% chance it’ll be after expiration. As far as I’m concerned, once the quarter end reset with the 14th week quarter in Q1, it means no more pre options releases for a few years.

Option expiration this July will occur on the 20th, the latest in the month for all years back to 2009. I’m hopeful that Apple reports on July 19, 2012, a Thursday. It may be that Apple reports July 23, 2012, a Monday, but it would also be the latest in July Apple reported FQ3 earnings (again, back to 2009).
Anyone have the date that Apple reported earnings in 2008?

Yahoo Finance is listing it @ 7-16, a Monday. Probably just a typo or a wild-assed guess. Apple hasn’t held a Monday earnings release since Oct 2010. Typically Tuesday, occasionally Wed.

No need to guess. Earnings call is after OpEx, which is better for making money anyway. Just look to last quarter for the playbook. Fiscal quarter always ends on the last Saturday of the month.
How will your July options volatility premium change when the date is officially announced? It won’t change, because the market has already priced in the date for July 24th or 25th.
