Someday, I’m hoping I won’t have to post this comic on Fridays anymore.

A whole board of Carnacs, yet not one reference to options expiration.

ANOTHER theoretical 10x+ bagger on the Friday daily strike?!

Like before, you have to time it exactly right and you have to guess the right strike, but…you’ve gotta be kidding me!

(Granted, the “normal” low was more like in the 40-cent range, but somebody bought in at 16 cents!  And I was thinking about buying in at a quarter!)

Yes, at 2:15 pm today the 605s were selling for 16? and less than two hours later were over $3! I played the pattern conservatively… just keep reminding myself that at 4pm, they often end up worthless.

I did some good shopping today… I bought 15 630 calls expiring next Friday for 75? and hope to sell them on Monday for a double.

Longer term, I picked up Oct. 650s for $18.35, which brought me to 97% invested in this earnings run, but I am prepared to unload some in one-more significant pullback I am expecting after we move beyond 618-620.

JD, I am sure that by continually reminding me of the elephant in the room, you and Travis have encouraged some of my successful trades as of late…  I was thinking of you and the 605 puts when I bet on the 605 calls.

No kidding.  But, you know, Carnac the Magnificent just isn’t willing to hang up his turban.  MaxPain may not be sexy, but it’s probably the most reliable technical indicator we’ve got.

Don’t worry about that monthly July 600 wall either.  It’s coming down.

Yup.  583-605+ is a nice change of pace.  And now that AAPL’s over 600 and staying there right now, the shorts are getting nervous…

605.88 close.  Ya did good, AAPL.

The shorts? As in plural? There might only be one of them out there with how tiny AAPL’s short interest is.

Depends on what you mean.  Yes, the short interest ratio is small compared to say NFLX.  But 15M shares short as of NASDAQ’s 6/15 count isn’t small potatoes in dollar terms.

The volume really picked up in the last hour.  I was looking at about 13 million shares.  Ending with 15 million shows that the big boys stepped in.

No worries on my predictions being off by a few bucks.  Added one more person to the ignore list, so life is good.  That one I should have added long ago.  He tends to give conservatives a really bad name and I suspect is single.

Monday is a new week.  Will have cash ready to deploy and waiting for the 590’s.

I hope this does not manifest in any physical symptoms or require medication.

Hopefully, we’ll be off to the races next week. OpEx will have a hard time holding us back on the run up to earnings. Besides, the OpEx bar is raised as the weekly gamblers buy higher strike calls, which they will hopefully do (or better yet, not buy any at all! Or at least buy puts instead).

Cheers and good luck to the longs.

Adam, that dummy didn’t get the “smoke signal” right.  It goes like this:

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/48082206

Lion in my trading group caught that.  I read that and immediately took profits on 1/2 my AUG’12 spreads.  I’ve seen this street hustle—some unknown analyst pulls out that $1000 target, and we sell off.

    All short-term shenanighans…

but Lovey, Brian White’s not unknown? and his 1001 target came out months ago ... CNBC just trots out the bulls on up days and the bears on down days.

Ix-nay on the unknown.  Wasn’t the guy from last quarter (right before the sell off) an unknown?

Also seems to happen right after GS analyst estimates.

Smoke signals, I tell ya! :D
