Sorry, but this is very disappointing. Video pop-ups are one thing. Subjecting forum contributors to ads between posts is a whole ‘nother kettle of fish.

Looks like those 700 or so 605’s were consequential after all…
(11,889 calls to 11,139 puts).
I just closed out some 600/605’s before we went below 605…mitigated some of the disaster this month.

What about you, greedynoob, did you get back in today?
Yes, some higher than I should have earlier on. Then I looked at what prices, given current volatility & theta, would be if AAPL tanked all the way down to 605, and put in limit orders. They all filled (at around 607, surprisingly) and I’m happy with those prices.
So I took a look at theta & pricing this AM, and found that today’s 610 would be Monday’s 620—that was after I bought in at prices I should have avoided. Anyway, my bottom line is about 640 day after. Below that I get killed pretty quickly, above it I start to do well quickly.
So my “planned for” day-after scenario is earnings at about $12, PE of 14.5, IV dropping 15% over night. That’s a decent profit. Anything better than that, ZOOOM! On the low end, any one of: earnings about $11, PE of 14, or IV collapsing to historic lows, I come out having done a lot of work for a bit of a loss. Earnings of $10.30 and PE of 13, and oh, that would hurt…
What it comes down to for me is this:
WS consensus: $10.32
vs:
Patrick Smellie: $12.51
Andy Zaky: $12.46
Horace Dediu: $11.54
Luke Kittel: $12.30
Alexis Cabot: $12.70
Daniel Tello: $12.16
Turley Muller: $12.12Those all being people with a good track record of calling AAPL. (And I note Gregg Thurman is at $12.56. In my short time here, I’ve noticed he seems pretty good at calling things.)

I’m not getting any such thing at all—leads me to suspect a bug rather than intended behavior.

Whew. Good thing I didn’t buy any last-minute AAPL calls today. (But I might as well have, given how my AMZN BPS play is doing.)
