AAPL Q3 2012 Conference Call Thread

Well then, you’d know the CC music is always like this.
Lots of money was lost today. Know the atmosphere.
Trust me, I know :-(
I’m part of Gregg’s crowd, we have the vast majority of our capital in Apple.

CC prepared marks are ongoing.

Oppenheimer appears to be hinting that he will sandbag no more.

NOT liking these CC prepared remarks from Oppenheimer…it’s sounding kind of song-and-dance, though it’s meant to lay the foundation of the success of the iPad platform.

This reminds me of a line from A Few Good Men….“You wanna hear the truth? You can’t handle the truth!”

A little perhaps, but he’s always done some of this.

OpEx is higher than usual - $3.4B, but stock-based compensation also seems a bit high.
Divvy may be supporting the stock.

Analyst time.
I hope these analyst questions are tough. I’d prefer no cloak-and-dagger stuff playing through the news channels. Heck, many analysts were shamed today, so they have strong incentive to get answers.

Asia-Pacific growth is down to 25%. Greater China revs - $5.7B - 48% YOY increase.
Sequential revs decline - due to sequential iPhone rev decline, half of it due to decline in channel inventory, half of it due to seasonality.
Cook not seeing macro influence.
No Siri in China is hurting. I should’ve accounted for this much better.

it is a compressed phone call, his happiness is compressed out

Tim is appropriately sober. He of all people would know these “dark days” would come, though Apple itself is doing just fine. There’s still one of these quarters to go.
If you think he cares about the golden handcuff share packages having less paper value - he probably doesn’t.

Euro is underperforming - flat growth YOY on iPhone, but they’re savvy on the rumors.
Crap, CC just conked out. Tim was about to go into very helpful detail about Euro countries individually.
US and China are doing OK as far as Apple’s expectations.
