    What PE ratio would we get with a price of 550 or even 525?

    12.9 and 12.3, respectively.  I believe we have hit a 12.6 to 12.7 PE for each of the last two quarters.

    12.6 to 12.7

    Thank you for the information.

    According to my records, our low of the quarter was 522 on May 18. With a 41.01 TTM, that yields a P/E of 12.73.

    So, consistent this quarter with a 550 floor…...I’m betting on it.

    Ironic read as I’m about to go pick up our dog from the eye specialist ... been a rough couple of weeks for her and she’s been to the vet now 3 times ... around 4K including this mornings surgery, which went well.  Expensive but she’s been a part of our family for 15 years and I didn’t hesitate one bit when told of the cost .... just glad we are able to spend that amount on her I can’t imagine if we were living paycheck to paycheck ...

    Good luck to all the longs ... been a rough week for many.

    Hope your doggie is doing better.

    She’s doing well, her eye is still uncomfortable and she got the “cone of shame” on ! : )

    Giving her pain medicine every 8 hrs. and se seems to be improving and is even trying to open the eye ... doctor said it could take around 6-9 months to heal completely.

    Took her for a walk this morning and to see her eager to go made me feel great .... hopefully we will get a few more good years as she turns 16 this year.  I still remember the day we brought her home from the pound , she was there when we got married (we were living together at the time) and she’s been here when we brought our two kids home from the hospital .  Yes you are right ... simple things matter the most.

    Hope Sammie feels better soon !  Sounds like you have a great vet ...

    (...)I would love to get the opportunity to buy some more at 550. However, I am not so sure whether we will see this price again. What PE ratio would we get with a price of 550 or even 525?

    ttm = 42.55

    525.00   =  12.34
    530.00   =  12.46
    540.00   =  12.69
    550.00   =  12.93
    560.00   =  13.16
    565.00   =  13.28
    570.00   =  13.40
    575.00   =  13.51
    580.00   =  13.63
    585.00   =  13.75
    590.00   =  13.87
    595.00   =  13.98
    600.00   =  14.10

    Thanks, Lovey and max.

    So I think that we will revisit a price below 550 this quarter.

    Interesting perspective on how Amazon is slowly disrupting retail the way Apple rearranged all the players in the cell phone industry (not that I’m buying any of it).

    Jean-Louis Gass?e’s latest ‘Monday Note’ is worth reading:

    Which leads us to the second number: Gross Margin guidance for the current quarter, ending September 30th, is 38.5%, down from 42.8% for the quarter that just ended. In consultant-speak, that?s an evaporation of 430 basis points (hundredths of percent) in just one quarter ? and we?re already one month into it with no visible change in the product lineup other than the full availability of newer MacBooks (Air, Pro, Retina), and no evidence of heavy-handed discounting.

    I usually give very little credence to rumors and speculation, but what if the ones about the August 7 launch of the next iPhone and the purported iPad Mini are correct, to a degree. Instead of the next iPhone on August 7, what if it is actually the iPad Mini? This might explain lowered GM guidance for this quarter. Almost a full two months of a lower GM product, just in time for back to school (and K-12) purchases. Just a thought.

    Did someone post this yet?  This makes my day, a woman athlete at the height of her powers with a great pre-race warmup for the hurdles at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona.

    She’s confident, attractive and having a great time.  It’s inspiring to watch, and I don’t mean that in a sexist way.  Just wow.  Good for her.  Girl Power!

    Q3 apple guided 41.5% and actually came in at 42.8% - a 1.3% beat, but historically low beat for apple.

    a 38.5% guidance for Q4 would indicate at least about 40% GM actual. I think thats a worst case scenario however.

    Good Bloomberg video on the Rocky Mountain Summit that inspired the green in the stock market last week.

    My take:  Lots of difficult discussions that don’t reveal a clear solution.  Not sure if we’ll see any carryover of green Monday.  Sigh, I think I’ll watch Michelle Jenneke’s pre-race routine again…

    So looking at an attractive girl because she is hot is sexist?
