    Red Shirted Ensign - 06 August 2012 07:14 PM

Solidly holding in the 623 area, volume could be a bit stronger but it is August and each share does cost $623..(not like trading MSFT, after all).

If we enter the last twenty minutes in this range we could see an end of day pop….maybe…..possibly…...

Anything 620+ is big news, preferably outperforming the indices today so AAPL can help “lead” the charge to NASDAQ 3000+ and SPX 1400+.

Happy I semi-pivoted from my conservative strategy when it looked (to my amateur eyes) anyway, like momentum was building.  Anyway, so far so good.  Increased dry powder stock, higher portfolio value.  A rare win-win day for me.

SPY hedge, just in case.  Oct 12 BPS, side bet-sized.

Just before end-of-day EDIT:  Just hold 620…should be “easy”...

EDIT 2:  Aaaaannnnnd it was.  622 and change.  Clutch close, though whether that means another up day tomorrow is anyone’s guess.  Lightened up a little, still have plenty in the game.

    Congrats to the longs!

Sweet.  A _few_ of those blasted Jan 14s 790/800 sold for a small gain.  Intend to sell off around 1/3 or so of those, maybe more - not a fan of what it does to my account value calculation.  One day I was at a reported -125% or something, and this is just a straight-up BCS we’re talking about! LOL

The main reason is liquidity.  They don’t have it.  I don’t like it.

If I drank, I’d have a drink for today. We crossed the dreaded upper teens FINALLY. It’s been a long four months. I’m ready to welcome a new ATH. smile

    Full impulse or Warp, Cap’n?

With our first dividend in a very long time now in play for this week, it will be interesting to see how trading is affected….if at all. With a stock as volitile as AAPL running a dividend capture program could entice a few folks out there.

I am just very glad we got through 618- 620 after so many recent efforts to cross that seeming insurrountable barrier.

So, impulse power through this week until we settle things out on who wants the dividend, and how much they will pay to get it

    Next week is OE….

Then we begin the countdown to “The Event”, complete with plenty of parts leaking out, speculation on new products, all spiced up by trial coverage.

And the Sponge owns Leaps.  What a week!

I heard 700% ROI goal on Jan 14 $800s.  I have to ask:  How do you intend to get that 700%?

Spidey sense says potential near-term danger post-div and potential little action to resolve FEAR due to Euro zone holiday.  I have to stay focused…

Spongie must think Apple will vault to $1,000 mid-2013.  Probably closer to 550%, not 700%.

Mercel…that was for Sponge to explain, since he’s brand new to options and it’d be a very helpful exercise…

Man, if I didn’t know some basics about LEAPs after all these years…

Sorry to ruin your fun.  Are you thinking he left off a zero?  :-D

Sweet, you can join me in the penalty box.

No, I’m being serious.  EVERY options newbie needs to know this stuff.  One good way of making sure is asking how high AAPL has to go to hit the target return.

AAPL at ~$1,000 after Q2 2013 earnings doesn’t sound at all unreasonable.
