Just got my AT&T bill - enclosed is a circular to buy iPhone 4S for Back to School.  Sounds like they are trying to clear out inventory IMHO.

Just checked the quote and AAPL was at 6.66?is this a good or bad sign?

There is a report as MacRumors.com that Apple retail stores around the world are laying off employees.  I don’t know what the issue is, though it sometimes seems that the ratio of staff to customers is a bit high in Apple stores of late.

Ensign is looking downright prescient today.

And yet, thanks to Mercel LOL, I think of this:

The Answer is…..what does Apple’s share price and Mav’s SAT score have in common.  grin

    630 close!  That’s…not a rejection of 630!

Hold the iPhone, iPad! LOL  This is a bona fide high-of-day close!

The momo trades are doing….surprisingly OK!  Because I added calls midstream today (so that’s two momo plays now), the new trade is only up “modestly”.

One of the momo trades may be sold into strength tomorrow should I be so lucky/quick enough, we’ll see.  Have to maintain some semblance of discipline.

You really dated yourself with that one, Ensign, unless you’re not that bullish on Mav’s abilities.

I was gonna mention the changing SAT scoring systems, but that’s so off-topic (Ensign’s fault!) that I’d planned to let it go…until now. wink

Look RG, speaking as the probably youngest of this subset of three, none of us took the 2400-point SAT. raspberry I won’t forget Ensign’s slight, even if it’s true. LOL

If this rally truly is anticipation of the next iPhone, then the launch has to be on the 21st of September.  I can’t see getting this excited 7 weeks out (started last week).

It also means that expectations for next iPhone unit sales has to be through the roof.

As an aside, it looks like AAPL pushed the NAZ into positive territory at the Close.

Expectations through the roof?  No it doesn’t!  644 was our previous ATH.  At the current ttm EPS, reclaiming that intraday high (so it’s not actually a closing ATH, that’s more like 636) is only a multiple of about 15.1.  Still well under the S&P multiple.  Hardly the wild sentiment multiple of…17 or so before AAPL lost its momo mojo.

Gregg, you _have_ been following rumor proceedings before Emperor Confirmation (aka Jim Dalrymple), haven’t you?  The new iPhone is on (and on schedule) until he says it isn’t.  Closest thing to a media invite you can get.

Mea Culpa on the SAT. I’m an old fart and can’t remember when I took it.

As for Apple, today’s action is most encouraging. Congrats, Mav on the momo trades. Today’s action was that wonderful gentle climb with volume, albeit light, building a bit right into a HOD close. Man, that has to bode well for the rest of the week?  The highest call OI is 650 (unless updated since Friday) and that does give us some room to roll along here….

AAPL getting anywhere near 650 for OpEx seemed unimaginable starting last week…highly unlikely Friday…I’m still doubtful today.

But I’m trying not to let any AAPL bias get the better of me.

Far as tomorrow, barring some jarring macro event AAPL has some nice buying pressure goin’ on…
