Motherboard or PSU ?

The problem begin with a crash, no BSOD, no error

messages. On trying to restart the PC would power up

momentarily, shutdown, then try to powerup again

repeating this process. This sounds like an issue with

my BIOS settings. I reset the motherboard by unplugging

the power, turning the power switch to off, moving

jumper to the reset position, removing the battery etc.

Try to start the PC. Same thing happens. Now I think it

may be my graphics card. At the time there was a radeon

HIS HD6950 in the PC. I replace the card with a nvidia

GeForce 550GTX TI. The PC starts & post.

All is fine for maybe an hour. The pc once again

crashes with no errors. This time when restarted it

powers on for maybe 4-5 seconds longer than it did with

the HD6950, but will restart, power up & stay powered

    up without posting.

The only way to get it to post again is to reset the

motherboard as I did above. At this point I was leaning

more towards my power supply possibly becoming weak.

Until I started to notice the USB ports on my

motherboard would stop working not long before, or

immediately after not working again until i reset the

    motherboard.

And I can’t update my BIOS because AsusUpdate never

works & I’m not sure how to do it with the .rom and dos

so I’m not too comfortable with it.

Thanks for any advice, need to know if my next move

should be to try swapping the PSU or swapping to a new

    mobo, thanks !
