iCloud email troubles.

    I was just told by Mac help that the Apple Mail server is down for maintenance 9/12/12.  this was in response to my problem ie, unable to access mail from iMac, iPhone 4 (just got it) and iPod touch. 
    It appears I can send email but can’t receive.  This appears to have started when I attempted to get mail from iCloud asked me for my password.  I entered it and have not been able to get mail since yesterday.  There’s a lot more to this story but after 2 hrs s/w mag help I’m exhausted
