iOS 6 will be available today, and it’s a free upgrade. Are you planning on installing the new OS version on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch right away, or are you waiting?

I need an “I’m getting an iPod Touch 5th Gen. so I’ll get it then” choice.

At least that’s my plan, haven’t pre-ordered yet… will the yellow/green color look too much like a toy in meetings?

Still haven’t seen it pop up as being available for download.

As soon as I see it’s available I’m installing it on my iPod Touch. OTOH our iPad2 (currently being used by my wife to follow baseball) will wait until the end of the season and maybe the end of the playoffs. Not going to do anything that might mess up her MLB App.

    Probably a smart move!

I’ll be waiting for a little while to see if any major issues start being reported. If nothing has hit by the weekend, I’ll make the change.

We’ll see if Siri is on speaking terms with me then.

Ok, glad I waited. Looks like Maps is a disaster.

    Ouch.

Anyone know if there’s a portal to view Maps without iOS 6? I really don’t want to lose my ability to keep Google Maps just to find out whether my area lucked out and managed to be mostly correct.

Yeah, you should be able to go to http://maps.google.com/ in Safari on iOS and then save it as a web app to your home screen.

Ah, no, I meant the opposite: Is there wany way to view iOS 6 Maps data on a desktop browser, akin to Google’s map service, so I could “kick the tires” of the new maps before committing to an OS upgrade.
