    Hi All

I’ve got a Late ‘08 15” 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.9, with a SSD (in the HDD bay) and regular 500GB HDD in the optical drive bay.

Following instructions from the OWC website, I created a fusion drive, which to date works just fine.

What I would like to know is, can I change the setting so the HDD spins down in just a couple of minutes ? I remember reading somewhere that HDD spin down doesn’t apply to SSDs, but seeing as how I haven’t filled the SSD yet, spinning the HDD is just a wast of energy.

Can anyone suggest if; a: it’s safe to try, and b: what the command is in 10.9 ?

    cheers

    Just bumping this post.

Would also like to get feedback (not feedbag) on whether setting hibernate mode to 25 (write RAM to SSD) to save on battery life is really going to play merry hell on the SSD life ?
