Mac OS 9.2.1

Edit: I just noticed that the article actually says the download isn’t working.

I’ve been having trouble getting through to download the Mac OS 9.2.1 update. (More info on 9.2.1 in this TMO article .) After I click the Agree button, I get a page saying I should click the link if the download doesn’t start automatically. It doesn’t seem to work even if I do click the link.
Does anyone know if there are alternate download locations? (I know Apple doesn’t usually allow mirrors but you can always hope.)

Servers appear quite swamped. That’s a little odd to me because I’ve never had this big of a problem downloading a software or OS update off of Apple’s servers before. The fact that the software update control panel does not display the update might suggest that the update is not mirrored on all of their software download servers as of yet.

I found out that the update can also be downloaded from download.info.apple.com at this link .
That server seems to be going quite fast.

Thanks for the link, David. I just downloaded and installed the upgrade. I can’t wait to see if it has improved classic apps in OS X.

The log of the install indicates that a TON of the files on my HD have been updated or removed. Seems to be a LOT of stuff that has been updated here.

I just downloaded the OS 9.2.1 from David’s link. It took 36 minutes via my high speed cable IP. At the conclusion, I got the massage “The ShrinkWrap Engine has reported and error. Error #60.” I have not installed because of that. Does anyone know what an error #60 is? Thanksl

Okay I got some details for you guys!
1st off it seems lots of stuff was updated (probally for the new iMacs/G4s/ whatever)
2nd USB support seems better as my USB webcam (which wouldn’t work in Apple Video Player) works in there now.It starts up on my iMac DV Special Editon (G3/400, 512MB RAM, 7200RPM 30GB HDD) SLOOOOOWWWWLLLLLYYYY! Of course I have a lot of stuff but 9.1 was much faster.
It seems to have sped up the finder quite a bit and it a lot more stable than 9.1.
I just installed it so I will give more details as I use it.
Sincerely

Just one note, the link provided takes you directly t0 the US version of the update. I know this isn’t a problem for most of you but people running the International English Version of 9.1 need a different installer. This one can be found here

Hi Roku,
Thanks for registering and hanging out. Glad we can help on the informative *and* trivial level.

At some point, you should stop in the TMO Lounge and explain the “Scotland/Japan” thing.

I read your thing about the new revision of the mac os and I have to say I agree with almost everything except thing thing about improved startup speeds, I have had some good speeds with OS 9.0.4 and with 9.1 but this 9.2.1 is horrible, its o-k-a-y and I haen’t optimized this yet so i think it shall improve.
More Experiences with the new revision:
Different Desktop Patterns
Improved ethernet speeds
Improved Modem speeds (I don’t use it but I did test it)
Much improve Stability (I posted this before)
Bad experiences with multiple users, it crashes upon waking up from sleep at the startup screen!
Improved speed overall inside the finder and apps seem to crash less!
again if you wish I shall provide more details or if this is enough let me know
