I do not play games often, but I would like a good basketball game.

I agree on the hoops game (preferably one that does Reggie Miller highlights). I’d also like to see an Indy-car racing game.

A good role playing game would be nice.  One in the spirit of the old Bards Tale or Wizardry series.  I also would like to see a good web position software.  One that checks you position in search engines and give you suggestions on how to improve you position.

What would I like ported to MacOS.

How about native support for REXX (from what I’ve seen this is a great scripting language which a broad range of uses - and the os/390 guys would love it).

How about IBM porting DB2 UDB! (or atleast them and Oracle could port their management software (db2 connect & oem).

How about Squid? (unless this has already been ported). Why not port one of the best proxy servers around? (this would probably be useful for Mac OSX Server).

And last but not least, a chess game! Don’t you wonder why Microsoft stuck to minesweeper and freecell for years? (Even though freecell is cool).

Anthony, wait until you try OS X! Apple HAS included a cool chess game.

I personally would love to see a combat simulation game like Command & Conquer come back. I don’t even remember how many emails I sent to them begging for a port.

On the more productive side, Autocad NEEDS to be on the Mac. Even though there are arguable better CAD programs available for the Mac, it is the industry standard. Until it comes over to the Mac, the Mac is out in the cold in industrial design.

What’s the difference between a Mac and a PC? Macs are designed, PCs are assembled.

I agree a good combat game would be nice.  I also woul dlike to see a good Sub Warfare game.  I used to play Silent Service for hours.  I sunk over 140,000 tons of Japanese ships once before one of their destoyers got me.

Well, I miss it some, but I better off with a Mac.  I get more done.  It is sometimes nice to revert back to my PC days (a very short period between my IIe and IIsi).

I agree on the AutoCAD angle to a point.  AutoDesk is used to a 95% market share and when they tried AutoCAD on the Mac, they couldn’t get that high because MiniCAD (now VectorWorks) already had it locked up.  VectorWorks is a great program and can read and write AutoCAD native files but it would be nice to have a Mac OS X version of AutoCAD for those people who refuse to use anything else.

I would also like to see Access ported to the Mac but doubt that it will ever happen.  Whenever pressed, Microsoft claims “technical issues” as the reason that they cannot port Access.  Maybe those “technical issues” will be gone in OS X and Office 11 will include MacAccess but I’m not holding my breath.

Does Apple have download area with the binaries, for the applications ported to Mac OSX?

It might be useful if they had such a place (perhaps perform abit of QA first).

Or perhaps have tucows or something host them, but some searchable directory on their web site.

There are SO many applications out there to port, it would be good to have a central place to find them.

Disclaimer : I don’t use Mac OS X yet (but I plan to when I invest in the iBook).

not games per se, but I’d like to see http://www.esri.com ‘s Arc Info ported to the Mac. They already did Arc View a few years ago, and need to update it as well.  Since it is already ported to several XWindows systems it shouldn’t be too hard with XFree86 programs coming to Mac OS X.

SoftImage and 3DStudioMax because I’m into 3D.

ArcView and AutoCad because I work for an engineering firm.

A good, free, Internet telephony app because I’m a cheap bastard.

Everquest, the upcoming Star Wars game, and every other game made because I am a gamer at heart.

Oh yeah, and all the rest of the software that’s not on the Mac because I hate having to admit that a product doesn’t have a Mac version when people ask.

Boy taht smarts.  I hate having to admit that I can’t buy a particular typ of software.  I want to rip the trachea out of any Pee Cee owner who rubs that in my face.  I know I have a better platform, but they have to remind me that I can’t buy some software products.

That burns me up.

Love to see the Palm software ported to OS X.  Also love to see Lotus Notes Clients and server ported.  I think that would be a kick butt combo!

WhatRoute - love to see that ported.

How about a port of a GUI representation of the command line TOP? OR PS AUX?  A few GUI representations of the command line would be great!

I second the call for the Palm Desktop.  I’d like to see Agent by Forte come to the Mac but they have no plans for it.

mIRC would be great too.  I’ve registered Snak but I just can’t get used to it.
