This post might almost belong to the Rant Room, but I think it goes best here.
A friend of mine, a close friend mind you, bought a PC after years of asking me what to buy. I told him over and over again to buy a Mac, but he chose to listen to the Lemmings who told him to get a PC.
One of the things I talked the most about was maintenance and the fact that most PCheads consider paying some techie to regularly fix their beige box a normal part of owning a computer. I also talked about virii and the like, but he was not to be swayed.
Today, I got a call from a family member who manages the repair center for a local Best Buy. She told me that my friend had come in with a problem that ended up being a virus! He has only had the machine for about 5 months too.
I am not happy that my friend had a problem, but I am lamely deriving sweet satisfaction out of the fact that he is seeing what I said coming true.
Petty, I know, but it’s funny. It’s even funnier that he didn’t tell me anything about it, but was busted anyway. ![]()
