Downloading from the Apple Store

I made a serious mistake in purchasing Appleworks 6.2 from the Apple Store. After 6 attempts I never got a complete download.
It is a 37MB file. I told Apple’s Customer Service Rep. that I was able to download OS 9.2.1 in less than 40 minutes(from Download .com) but he insisted it must be my ISP.  I was told that I must obtain a form from their website, print it and fill it out, mail it to a Texas location and wait 2-3 weeks for a refund. This is my reward for purchasing the software from Apple rather than a Retailer.
I would like to hear from anyone who has tried to download from Apple.

I’ve never had trouble downloading from Apple. I must point out tho that I’ve never bought software of their site, but system updates, Quicktime movies, movie trailers are all no problem. They go fast (50k/s) and without trouble.
I must point out I usually download early on the day (before 2 pm CET, 8 am EST).  Those are the times I get the fastest downloads.
