This podcast is recorded on an iMac (Core 2 Duo Mid 2007) using Audio Hijack Pro and routing courtesy of WireTap Anywhere. As for equipment, John is using a Heil PR-40 microphone going through a Behringer Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO mixer, monitored with Etymotic ER-6i Isolator earphones, then straight in to his Mac. On Dave’s end, a Heil PR-40 microphone is also used, and the whole show is mixed “live” through a Mackie Onyx 1220 FireWire-enabled mixer before being pumped back into the Mac (via FireWire, of course), and is monitored with Westone ES2 custom-fit earphones. When PilotPete is in the house, he’s usually talking through a Heil PR-30. Each microphone is run through a channel on a Behringer Autocom Pro-XL MDX1600 compressor, a touch of reverb is added with an ART FX-1 processor, and the whole thing is then compressed in software on the Mac. The show is recorded to AIFF, and then converted and uploaded with an Automator script. Michael Johnston from iPhone Alley then goes through and enhances the show to provide you with the AAC version. You can hear more details of the setup and how it’s mixed on Episode #32.
Theme Music: “The Answer”, written by Jeff Steblea and Brian Ayles, as performed by Go Figure. “Made On A Mac” bumper by Mark Fleser

It seems after downloading the MGG podcast for the last year all the sudden iTunes tells me the link is bad and I should try again. So, I have, several times. I get the same result. What’s up? Is there a problem on your end maybe?
I even tried unsubscribing and then re subscribing. Nothing seems to work! All the other podcast I listen to are downloading fine.
Dave
Hi Dave—I just checked and, near as I can tell, everything’s working fine on this end (also, you’re the first to report anything, though that doesn’t mean you’re alone!). Are you able to download *any* episodes? Which episode are you having trouble with, and is it the MP3 or the AAC?

No problem getting episodes any other way except through iTunes subscription. I’ll be patient and wait a few days. Maybe it will clear up by it self.
Thanks for responding so quick
Dave
Yes there is an issue downloading 228 AACC in iTunes. Downloaded the mp3 version but can’t “save as” out of Safari! What’s up with that? Love your show,
just wanted to move it to iTunes then my iPhone.
Ok, it seems there *was* an issue with the RSS feed and iTunes, but that was fixed several hours ago. Also, I was just able to do a “save as” out of Safari on both the MP3 and the AAC, which went live from Michael Johnston today.
Is everyone else having success here now, or are you still seeing problems?
All is corrected now. Thanks, I look forward to the show every week!

Dave, the show is downloading in iTunes now as expected.
Thanks!

During the show, you folks mentioned a second option to the MiddleClick program. I’ve been using MiddleClick for a while now, and have found that it has issues waking from sleep. I wanted to check out the other gesture-oriented program you mentioned, Better Touch Tool, but you didn’t include a link above.
For those interested, I found it via the author’s blog at http://blog.boastr.net/. I’ve not yet had the chance to test it out, but would appreciate someone verifying that this is indeed the program referenced in the show.
I’m originally from Vermont although I grew up in New York—my parents taught me to be proud of my heritage and Vermont was always considered home. Apple pie with cheddar is the only way to go. Connecticut—New England? Barely.
I’m originally from New Hampshire and lived in Vermont for a few years as a kid. I am very proud of my Yankee (capital-Y) heritage, even though I’m a thousand miles away (in the heart of Johnny-Reb territory) and have been for way too long. I agree with your assessment of CT, especially SW CT (I’d be willing to cut the folks who live near Cape Cod & RI a little slack, I guess.
)
However, I must admit I’ve never had Apple Pie with cheddar. Apple Pie—yes. Cheddar—yes. Grade B Maple Syrup—yes. I guess I’ve got something new to try now!
———
Oh, and for the record, I’ve now used both MiddleClick and BetterTouchTool, and the latter is FAR better, offering much more customizability, and works even after the system awakes from sleep.
Grade B syrup—the best kept secret. Can’t find it in NY.
Grade B: I buy mine on the web—https://www.parkersmaplebarn.com/ in Mason, NH—great price, great syrup, and great service! (Std Disclaimer: I have no stake in Parker’s Maple Barn, other than I want to see them continue to ship their products!!)

Dave/John:
Don’t point Superduper and TimeMachine to the same partition—unless you never use SuperDuper. First time you fire up SuperDuper, it will make this shared SuperDuper/Timemachine destination drive a “clone” of whatever original you’re backing up and poof! there goes the TimeMachine data you had on that destination partition.
