An iPhone Case That’s Serious About Protection

· by · Quick Look Review

The whole purpose of an iPhone case is protection.  Well, maybe a bit of personality statement, but primarily it is for protection. Ballistic has recently introduced a new series of cases called the SG series that offers three levels of construction to help provide that protection.

There are versions of the case for both the AT&T phone and the Verizon phone. There is an outermost layer that is made of soft TPU which is designed to absorb the shock of a drop. That layer is co-molded onto layer number 2, which is made of an impact resistant polycarbonate. The third layer is made of a soft silicone. This layer also includes Ballistic Corners™ which provide extra shock absorption on each corner.

The MSRP for the case is US$34.99. Color options for both the AT&T and Version cases are black/black, black/white, black/red, and black/pink.

Using the product

This case really is a very sturdy case while also being fairly slim and attractive. You have to insert and remove your phone in a specific way and there are instructions on the web site for users. It is not that it is hard; you just have to first put the phone in the inner shell and then click on the outer shell, but the instructions are there if needed. I certainly felt that my phone was quite safe and it fit into most of my pockets because of the slim design.

Do I recommend it?

I do.  It is reasonably priced, sturdy, attractive, and feels as if it will last a long time. I like the color combinations.  I can place my phone on a stand with the case on, depending on the stand, but for recharging I need to use the cable.
