UNIEA Intrecciato, U-Pouch and U-Hip Pop iPhone Cases

November 12th, 2009 at 9:00 AM - Quick Look Review by Nancy Gravley

I am always pleased when I am asked to review products from UNIEA because their products consistently have two things in common with Apple products: they are beautifully designed and of very high quality. The two iPhone and one iPhone/iPod touch cases I am reviewing today did not disappoint.

The UNIEA U-Suit Intrecciato Premium Leather hard case for iPhone 3G and 3GS
This one is my personal favorite and the one I am now using for my iPhone. It is for the 3G or 3GS. It weighs 0.6 ounces and is available in black.

"Intrecciato" means woven leather according to the Web description and the pattern has the look and feel of woven leather. It has a very slim profile that fits over the back and covers the corners of the phone with an impact resistant plastic shell. A screen protector is included as well.

There is complete access to all the ports, including the docking port. Although only shown as docking to a normal docking cable, I am also able to dock and charge it in my Kensington Charging Dock with Mini Battery Pack. The case adds .6mm thickness to the phone. This case sells for US$34.95.

The U-Suit Intrecciato Premium Leather hard case

This case comes in either a soft suede or smooth leather in a stylish zebra pattern. It is nicely crafted with high quality stitching. The phone slips in to the case and there is ready access to ports for listening and docking.

It is very stylish and is the kind of case that may have your friends saying "Oh, let me see your case," when you pull it out. This case weighs 0.7 ounces, is available in black and sells for $22.95.

Leather U-Pouch

The primary features of this case are the sturdy belt clip and the flap closure. The belt clip is very strong and snaps in place at the tip. The flap closure, which is a large wave-shaped flap area, is a form of velcro, but it too snaps in place and is very sturdy.

Although soft leather, the case gives me an impression of ruggedness. There is open space at the top that allows ear phones to be used while the case is worn. This case comes in black, weighs 2.05 ounces and sells for $29.95.

While advertised for both the iPhone 3GS and the iPod touch I can see this case being much more attractive to the iPod touch user. Many iPhone users will have problems getting their iPhones out of this case before the phone stops ringing.

When I showed it to a couple of friends who use an iPod touch, however, they were delighted with the concept and design, especially the feature that allows them to listen to their music while keeping their iPods safely in a case.

The U-Hip Pop Universal Hip Case

The Bottom Line
All three of these cases are well made, stylish, and designed to protect the iPhone or iPod touch while allowing for maximum access by the user.

1 Observer Comment

I wish more iPhone hip cases had belt loops instead of clips.
