Vote To Put Jobs, Woz, & Atkinson In Computer Hall Of Fame Ballot

Vote To Put Jobs, Woz, & Atkinson In Computer Hall Of Fame Ballot

by , 5:30 PM EDT, August 11th, 2000

Let's take a show of hands, who thinks that Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Bill Atkinson should be in the Computer Hall Of Fame? Yeah, that's what we thought, it's unanimous. The Computer Museum of America is preparing to add to it's Computer Hall Of Fame, and they are allowing us to help choose the people who will be on the ballot. We want to repeat that: We can all vote on who will be on the ballot, so we can then vote for the finalists. According to the Computer Museum of America:

We need your input -- help us nominate this year's class for the Computer Hall of Fame! Visit our online ballot where you can vote for up to 10 visionaries, innovators and others who made the computer revolution happen.

Bill Atkinson - Led the team that developed the Apple Lisa, the first commercial computer with a Graphical User Interface of desktop and mouse (1983).

Steve Jobs - Cofounder of Apple Computer (1975). Founder of NeXT Computer (1985). Started Pixar Animation Studio, which makes movies with computers (including the popular "Toy Story").

Steve Wozniak - Built the Cream Soda Computer, an early pre-CPU kit computer. Designed and built the Apple I and Apple II personal computers. Cofounder of Apple

There are many other worthy people on the list, and you may have hard time keeping your vote down to 10 people. As of this writing, the site's servers were a tad busy and we can not see how things stand, but several Observers have told us that Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Bill Atkinson are all in the Top 10. With your help, they can stay there, so go vote!

To vote, head to the Computer Museum of America web site, and look for the link to the Hall of Fame. Click on that link to go to the ballot page.

Thanks to those who wrote in to tell us about this vote.

The Mac Observer Spin:

When Steve Wozniak was named to the Inventor Hall of Fame, he was ecstatic for being honored as an inventor. Our guess is that he will be delighted to be named here as well. All three of these visionaries were just that, visionaries. They all contributed to the Mac and computing in different ways, but we are delighted to see them on the balloting.
