by , 3:00 PM EDT, October 26th, 2004

Apple Computer released Tuesday iTunes 4.7 with a number of new features. It is currently only available via the Web.

In addition to its ability to copy and synchronize photos for the new iPod Photo, iTunes 4.7 includes a 'Artist Alerts' feature. Users can now be automatically notified via e-mail when an artist has a new song available at the iTunes Music Store.

The new iTunes software works on with Mac OS X and Windows XP or 2000.
