OWC Offers USB-Only Version of Mercury On-The-Go Drive

OWC Offers USB-Only Version of Mercury On-The-Go Drive

by , 1:05 PM EST, March 23rd, 2006

Other World Computing on Thursday started offering USB 2.0-only versions of its Mercury On-The-Go line of 2.5 inch portable hard drives. The company noted that the new Intel-based Macs support booting via USB 2.0, making the drives attractive to owners of those computers as well as anyone else who doesn't have or doesn't need FireWire connectivity.

The line starts with a 40GB model for US$109.99 and tops out at a 120GB version for $269.99. All Mercury On-The-Go drives come with Intech Speed Tools and EMC Retrospect Express software, as well as a carrying case. An AC adapter is also included, although they can also draw power from a port bus.
