Apple Unveils Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook

Apple updated its MacBook product lineup on Wednesday with Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The laptops feature 1.83GHz or 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, built-in AirPort Extreme, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR, one FireWire 400 port, two USB 2.0 ports, either a 24x Combo Drive or 6x double layer Super Drive, Apple Remote, built-in iSight camera, mini DVI-out, optical digital and analog audio in/out, MagSafe power adapter, and iLife '06 software.

The new MacBooks support up to 2GB RAM, and up to a 200GB hard drive. They include Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 950 video processor, and a 13.3-inch display.

The 1.83GHz white MacBook comes with 512MB RAM, a 60GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive, and slot-loading Combo Drive for US$1,099.

The 2.0GHz white MacBook includes 1GB RAM, an 80GB 5400RM SATA hard drive, and slot-loading SuperDrive for $1,299.

The 2.0GHz black MacBook ships with 1GB RAM, a 120GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive, and slot-loading SuperDrive for $1,499.

Apple claims the new MacBooks are up to 25 percent faster than the models they replace.
