Apple Inc. announced the immediate availability of Final Cut Express 4 on Thursday. The new version of the video editing application added AVCHD camera support and received a price cut to US$199.

Final Cut Express 4 added support for iMovie '08 projects, lets users mix and DV, HDV and AVCHD content in real time, supports 1080i and 720p HD resolutions, and auto scales and crops based on output resolution. The new version also includes LiveType 2 for creating animated titles, added over 50 new FxPlug filters, improved audio controls, and more.
Final Cut Express is priced at US$199, and upgrades from previous versions cost $99.
