Doublet Scan 10.0.4 ($30 Shareware)
Hyperbolic Software

Sure, the Mac's hierarchical file system can help you organize your data in a sensible fashion, but over time, even the most organized individual may have multiple copies of the same document on their hard drive. Of course, one can use the Find feature of the finder to track down and eliminate these duplicates, but this can get tedious. If only there was an easier way to identify and get rid of duplicate files...

Doublet Scan is a utility that will help you quickly identify and remove duplicate files, using a number of different criteria. You start the process by first defining what specific duplicate conditions you'd like to examine. By default, Name is already selected when you define a scanning Task, but you can also look for a duplicate Creation Date, Type, Date Modified, Creator and Size. You can also search for a specific Extension, Type and Creator codes, to further narrow things down.

The second part of defining a scanning Task is to specify what location(s) you'd like to search for these files. You can choose a single hard drive, all volumes, or even a specific folder. Once you've decided on the location(s) you can then dictate the exact type of scan, which can be for Duplicate Files, Unique Files or Empty Folders. Make your selection, and Doublet Scan will do its thing. At the conclusion of the scan, you'll be presented with a list of files. You can then examine each individual file, or just start getting rid of them.

So make sure you keep your hard drive free from clutter from duplicate files, and give Doublet Scan a try today.
