Finder Patch 1.3.1 ($2 Shareware)
FMR Software

Although the Mac OS 8.6 Finder contains many keyboard shortcuts, there may be some commands you would like to access via the keyboard. How can one accomplish this without delving into the depths of the Mac OS with ResEdit?

Finder Patch can add many useful features to Mac OS 8.6. First, it adds keyboard commands for Trash, Restart, Shutdown and About This Computer operations. Next, it can allocate additional memory to the Finder. It can also add a Quit Finder selection to the Special menu, for those situations where you need a maximum of memory or processor time. Finally, it can add a new image to your About This Computer menu.

Since modifying the System and Finder file isn't something you'll do every day, Finder Patch makes sure you do it safely. You must backup your System and Finder files to the desktop before applying the patch. Make sure you save these files somewhere else, preferably on removable media, before you execute the patch! Although our test system had no problem, you never know...

Once the patch works, you'll be able to manipulate your system more effectively than ever before.
