NetPresenz: File Sharing With FTP

Sharing files using File Sharing and AppleTalk is all well and good for small or private networks, but it really doesn't cut it if you want to talk to (gasp) non-Mac computers, or to others on the Internet. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the way to go. Although Apple offers AppleShare IP, it really is overkill if all you want to do is share files.

NetPresenz turns your Mac into an FTP, HTTP and Gopher server. It uses the settings you may already have defined in your Users and Groups Control Panel to control access to your files. You can define different levels of access for the Owner (that's you) other Users, and Guests, choosing from no access, read only, write only and full access.

If you also want to serve some web pages, enable the HTTP server. In addition to being able to serve up web pages, it can also process CGI scripts and Java applets. And for a peek at how information was organized before this World Wide Web thing, you can fire up the Gopher server.

NetPresenz provides your Mac with industry-standard FTP, HTTP and Gopher services for an amazing low price.
