Fastest Supercomputer on Earth Now at Oak Ridge National Laboratory

For several years now, Chinese supercomputers have been the fastest in the world. The list of the fastest supercomputers, at Top500.org, had been showing the U.S. falling behind. Recently the Oak RIdge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee announced that the new, IBM-built "Summit" supercomputer is capable of 200 petaflops. By comparison, a modern, fast desktop…

John,

Been following this story ... the specs on this machine are amazing. One thing that's not getting mentioned (much) is the storage system. A 250 petabyte GPFS filesystem that is capable of 2.5 terabytes / second (no, that's not a typo) of I/O!
