[Solved] AirPod Alternative

Hi all,

I have a pair of AirPods and absolutely love them. They work flawlessly. I can’t say enough good things, but I am one of the few weirdos in the world and my left ear doesn’t hold the AirPod in place. My right side stays in just fine, but my left ear requires that I add a silicone hook to make it stay in my ear. This works but is a pain because I carry my AirPods case and have to have this silicone ear hook floating around in my pockets.

Does anyone have suggestions for similar products that maybe have the ability to seal in the ear. This type of corded ear bud has always worked best for me. I know those aren’t ideal because they tend to block out ambient sound and as the guys have pointed out sometimes we need that noise to be safe. But I see some advertised that look like they seal and may provide similar functionality to the AirPods. I am sure the AirPods are better but I am looking for other options since the left one just won’t stay in place.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Jeff

Hey Jeff,

I totally understand your problem, I want to say before you totally choose an alternative product, as an option. Why don't you try the many accessories options out there a chance, they might more than solve your loose fit issue, here's a link to an Amazon page check it out. I would love to know what you think? As far as alternative products Bose is rated #1 but through my everyday commute, it's hard to believe cause I see more people with the AirPods than any anything else. Personally, I think you got the best products it's just about accomplishing the perfect fit before you give up on the AirPods. I say try the cheaper fix before you go the more expensive route.

Just wanted Jeff to know that he is not the only one with the problem. I cannot shake the right pod out and can’t keep the left one in. I have replaced the left one twice which is a pain. Someone at Apple decided you couldn’t purchase one pod unless you went through the repair process. Anyway, I feel your pain but I love my pods.

Thanks Nelson.

I followed your link but the shipping time was pretty far out so I found others that are similar and have ordered them. I will report back if this economical solution works!

I am of a different opinion. My take is that there are so many AirPods alternative available starting from as low as $20 and can go up to $100. Most of them are from decent brands delivering headsets from more than a decade. Well, that's just me, no offense.

I just bought and am using the Jabra Elite Active 65t and absolutely love them.  I bought based on a Wirecutter article and believe them to be a good AirPod alternative.  They also have a less expensive non-Active version.  But I can't confirm if the fit will be better.  I used to use Jaybird Bluebud X2 and these the Jabra have a similar fit without that Jaybird plastic hook.  In fact, the Jabra is even comfier and have not fallen out with some activity testing.  Good luck!
