Alert about Mac reboot when I manually reboot the Mac

Every time my Mac boots, I get an alert on start saying my Mac did reset because of a problem. That happens when turned off and on, and also on manual reset. There is no apparent problem in the Mac when running, so that is just an annoying message I have to hide every time the computer boots.

The details button contains the below, ¿Anyone can help me understand what may be wrong?

Thanks!

pmap_tte_remove: non-zero pagetable refcount:

indicates this virtual memory related.  I can see you are Big Sur, but nothing in the panic report tells me what kind of Mac this is.

So I'm going to statistics.

The #1 cause of kernel panics is 3rd party kernel extensions. You have 1

com.google.drivefs.filesystems.dfsfuse 45.2.0

I do not know that it has anything to do with your panic, but kernel extensions have full access to everything on in your system.

However, I have not really seen dfsfuse be an issue in other kernel panics, and I have a tendency to look at every one I come across.  I've seen a lot of kernel panics.

#2 cause of kernel panics is 3rd party memory.  Since I do not know if your Mac has replaceable memory or not, I do not know if this applies.   If you do have 3rd party memory, then this kind of panic report could apply, although if all your other panic reports are identical to this report, failing memory is less likely.  That is say, failing memory tends to fail in different places, so it would be unlikely to always be a "pmap_tte_remove: non-zero pagetable refcount" panic, but failing memory does have a pattern.

So look at your other panic reports and see if they are identical or if they vary from report to report.  Patterns in panic reports can tell you things.

You can run a utility such as Rember overnight to see if finds anything.

http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember
.

Quit as many apps and background tasks as you can (such as menu bar items) so more RAM is available for testing.  Booting into Safe mode  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564  can also free up more RAM for testing, by not loading any 3rd party additions you may have installed.

.
Set Loops: [X] Maximum
and run overnight

#3 cause of kernel panics is failing USB devices attached to your Mac.  It can be a failing device, it can be a failing USB cable, it can be a failing USB hub, and do not discount Thunderbolt cables and connectors as they carry USB signals.

However, this is not the kind of panic that a failing USB device would cause, so while you could try disconnecting your external devices, as an experiment, I do not really think this is a USB failure.

I cannot extract any more information from the panic report.

Thank you very much for the detailed answer. My Mac is a 2020 Macbook Pro (Silicon M1 chip). There has had no memory replaced and the only thing that may be different is I ordered the one with 512Gb SSD instead of the one with 256, but I ordered directly to Apple so they did the replacement, or maybe just they have devices with 512Gb in stock.

I'd say it may be because a 1Tb USB drive I have permanently connected via a USB hub, but at the moment I cannot check because the Mac is doing a long process I don't want to interrupt.  I'll check later when I can disconnect the device and try reboot once more without the external disk and without the hub, to see if same happens.

Thanks again!
