Does File Vault slow down the mac Mini?
My new Mac Mini is fully loaded.
I would not encrypt the disc as the device stays at home and a strong password would be enough.

I don’t find that File Vault slows down my 2015 MacBook nor any SSD/Flash Mac I’ve seen it running on. Everything I’ve heard, including on the podcast, is that File Vault 2 runs beautifully across the board.

intel chips in the last few years have all included dedicated hardware to do that encryption/decryption so it has had almost no impact on performance.
