Have just switched from FIOS to Xfinity and looking to buy my own cable modem. I have triple play so need phone capability. Also have an Eero mesh network in the house already so no need for a router. My internet speed from Xfinity is 250. In looking at what's available. Don't think I need DOCSIS 3.1 (actually don't know if a DOCSIS 3.1 phone but no router function exists) but have looked at the Netgear CM500V and the Arris SBV 3202 as DOCSIS 3.0 alternatives. The Netgear is 16x4 and the Arris 32x8 and both are comparably priced (around $130-$150). Seems like the Arris is the better choice but can't find great reviews to compare. Anyone have any suggestions?

I just replaced the Comcast Xfinity modem (with voice) using an Arris Surfboard Docsis 8X4 Cable Modem / Telephone Certified for XFINITY - Download Speed: 343 Mbps (TM822R)

It went in easily.  I also have an eero as my router.

My payback period is 5 months at $13/month saved.

NOTE:  my Xfinity speeds are 180mbs down 6mbs up
