Per this article at The Register:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/05/21/crashplan_changes_file_exclusions_to_anger_of_customers/

If you are using Crashplan you definitely need to be aware of what files and folders it excludes. The full list is here:

https://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/6/Troubleshooting/What_is_not_backing_up?

And some notable items include:

  • Virtual machines
  • Sparseimages
  • Various plist files
  • User applications folder

From my reading of the list it also includes ~/Library/Containers and ~/Library/Group Containers  which might contain a LOT of real user data eg. Microsoft Outlook profiles. (But I'm not 100% sure on my reading of that.)
