After listening to a recent MGG mentioning fibre i was spookily having issue.

A new building was built in the same grounds as the old . Fibre installed and terminated , panel to panel its less than 250 meters. i read this post and agreed fibre lc to lc but didnt get any certificate because in the confusion of initial work,  one of our staff ran over the fibre cable with a van ... groan.

We know of the light test

/a> 1-4 passed but 5&6 did not.

Plugging a patch cable between the media convertors all flashes and works. Plugging a patch cable now into either end of the fibre patch panel & the media convertor, i get no middle light ( TX ).
Bringing the kit back , i can remove the SPF units and plug them into both our ZyXEL GS1900-48HP V2 POE+
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BWT4ZYM /a> using one of patch cables connect the switches and data flows fine.

1) So are there any other tests or kit we need?
2) Anything else we can do to prove the cable between the patch panels is correct, correct length etc?

Any help or links to articles would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Simon

Sorry the above is a mess and i cannot seem to edit. below is the actual text ...

A new building was built in the same grounds . panel to panel its less than 250 meters. i read this post and agreed 6 fibre lc to lc but didnt get any certificate because in the confusion of initial setup one of our staff ran over the fibre cable with a van ... groan.

We know of the light test , do this lines numbered 1-4 passed but 5&6 did not.

i had also taken the plan to test the SPF separately . I purchased 2 media convertors (because it ensures distance of upto 20KM - incase length of fibre is > 250).
2 single & 2 Duplex Fibre Patch Cables
1GB and 10GB SPF modules

Plugging a patch cable between the media convertors all flashes and works.
Plugging a patch cable now into either end of the fibre patch panel & the media convertor, i get no middle light ( TX ).
Bringing the kit back , i can remove the SPF units and plug them into both our ZyXEL GS1900-48HP V2 POE+  using one of patch cables to connect the switches and data flows fine.

1) So are there any other tests or kit we need?
2) Anything else we can do to prove the cable between the patch panels is correct, correct length etc?

Any help or links to articles would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Simon

UPDATE For anyone else who moves to fibre

Fibre guy gave lots of techy confusing answers and pointed to this article.
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2109969-duplex-multimode-lc-fiber-cross-over

in short fibre is as you ask for. i would have expected crossed BUT because i didn't specify it then it was connected straight.
JUST remember to pull those clips apart so you can try A where B was. My problem was i was afraid of breaking them but i doubt you will.
THEN cross the streams to check if your patch panels are crossed or straight through.
REMEMBER to do this at both ends!!!
