I need to split an ethernet run at a place where there is no practical 120 volt power for a standard switch. I also need to preserve POE on the line for a Wifi node. Are there switches that are themselves powered by POE? Or can someone suggest another solution? Thanks.

Short answer: yes.
Unifi/Ubiquity PoE switches are a respected brand. Look for ones that mention PoE passthrough.
