Problem with External network drive

I’m trying to connect a 1tb Seagate slim SSD to my TP Link AC1200 router but I’m only seeing 188mb available space.  I’ve formatted as MAC OS Extended (Journaled) and EX Fat but still only 188mb available storage.    Accessing the drive once connected to the TP Link isn’t a problem . . . Just would like to have 1tb storage

thanks for all help

From the FAQ

• If you use a USB hard drive, we recommend its file system is NTFS,FAT32.

Have seen that however neither are options when using disk utility in macOS High Serra. I’m sure I’m missing something simple

Formatting as MS DOS fat seems to work - at least I see a 1tb disk. Now, time to transfer files.

Thanks for your input
