LONDON – 50 years ago today, Apollo 8 landed back on Earth. The astronauts had spent Christmas on the dark side of the moon, an extraordinary and dangerous mission. When the shuttle was on the far side of the moon, the astronauts could not contact Earth. On Monday, Christmas Eve, the BBC aired a radio documentary in the UK on the groundbreaking mission. It is now available via BBC Sounds.
