Apple released a new commercial this week called Frankie’s Holiday. It’s a touchy-feely piece vaguely showing an iPhone being used by Frankenstein’s Monster to reach out to his community. I love it. It’s cute. Touching. A little off-beat.

Like it a lot. The ad pushes the brand, but in a thoughtful way that isn’t your typically annoying splash and dash ad from most retailers.

There’s an Easter egg in the Christmas ad: the portrait on Frankie’s wall is of Mary Shelley, who wrote… well, you know.

I do like this ad. It’s warm and has a nice message. Doesn’t push the branding too hard. It’s in the vein of the last few years Christmas ad. Very nicely done.

Someone else on another site pointed out that something interesting. The monster is played by Brad Garrett, who was in Everybody Loves Raymond alongside Peter Boyle who played the monster in Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder, who passed away a couple of months ago.

Blah, ponderous poo like all of Apple’s advertising as of late. To each their own. YMMV and all that.

    Happy holidays people! 😀
