SPOTLIGHT MATCHES

PLAY OF THE WEEK

BLUNDER OF THE WEEK

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Round Four; the Quarter-Finals. Eight teams in the Top Bracket, and the power-house orders are really starting to lock horns with each other. This week's matches can be expected to raise the ante another level, with some great play and tense games on offer. This week's Spotlight Matches were very tough to pick, but we've narrowed it down to just five impressive matchups.

CIVIL ORDER VS BMF

Not much really needs to be said about this match. Wherever Myth veterans gather to swap tall stories in the flickering firelight, BMF and Civil are the names that are spoken of in hushed tones. Pre-match predictions would seem to favour Civil based on the fact that they've are 2-0 against BMF in the OGL league, but you would be a fool to turn your back on an order who have been reaping heads like BMF have. This match could go either way very easily.

EVIL INC VS DESTRUCTION ETERNAL

e.i and DE are both very strong orders with impressive tournament records, but both have been relegated to the Bottom Bracket by even more formidable foes. When the stakes are elimination from the tournament, the battle is sure to be an impressive one. Again, this matchup is too close to call.

THIS ORDER SUCKS AT MYTH II VS MAC GAMERS GUILD

Samii and MgG could both be considered 'underdog' orders; at the start of the tournament, few pundits would be prepared to give them a shot at taking home the Cup. But that doesn't lessen the quality of the play that they've demonstrated to date. When MgG's inherent craftiness comes up against samii's tactical skill, the results are hard to predict, but samii have had success in scouting out their opponents' performance in past rounds before and it should stand them in good stead for this match.

FELLOWSHIP OF STONEHEIM VS SABRE RUMMERS

The Sabre Rummers have to be favourites going into this match; their trek through MWC99 has only barely been slowed by the opposition that they've faced. Having said that, their opposition has been of a lower caliber than fs. The Fellowship have faced down established orders such as Destruction Eternal already in MWC99 and may well pose a significant threat to the Rummers.

THE COMPANIONS VS DRINK ON YOUR GRAVES

This match doesn't leap out as an interesting matchup at first glance; the Companions might be expected to easily defeat this small team of unknowns. But ~C~'s morale may well be shaken by their loss to Alliance last round, and a close perusal of DYG's track record reveals some very impressive play at times. If we could pick a single 'potential upset' match for this round, this would be it.
