[11:00 AM] Adaptec Kicks SCSI Card Line Into Overdrive
by Staff

Adaptec has released its newest Ultra160 SCSI card for Macintosh, the PowerDomain 29160N. The new SCSI card provides Mac users with the fastest, most reliable SCSI option on the market. According to Adaptec:

Adaptec is now shipping its newest Ultra160 SCSI card for Macintosh, the PowerDomain 29160N. The PowerDomain 29160N offers customers twice the performance of the previous generation PowerDomain 2940U2W -- and four times the performance of the PowerDomain 2940UW, the two products it replaces. Both PowerDomain 2940U2W and 2940UW products will continue to be supported by Adaptec but will no longer be available for purchase.

Here is a short list of enhancements over the previous two products:

  • Full Old SCSI Manager support in addition to SCSI Manager 4.3
  • SpeedFlex Technology
  • More functional connector layout

With a max speed of 160MB/second, SpeedFlex, and LVD Support, the new card offers blazing speed and high compatibility.

The PowerDomain 29160N is available for US$349. You can find more information in the Mac section of the Adaptec web site.
