[5:30 PM] 68k Version Of Mega Minesweeper Released
Carrot Software has released an update to the Mega Minesweeper, their Mac version of the classic strategy game. Among the many improvements added to the game, the company has included a 68k version for the first time. According to Carrot Software:
Carrot Software is proud to announce the release of version 0.9.9 of Mega Minesweeper. The new version offers several new features, as well as being the first release available for 68K Macintosh computers. The new features:
The ability to have the "new high score" name filled in automatically. The name to be used is set in the preference under the High Score tab.
When a game is over, pressing any key(s) other than the arrow keys (which scroll) will start a new game.
Power modifier and uncover modifier can be the same. (i.e. simply clicking on a covered field can uncover it, while clicking on an uncovered flag with the correct # of flags around it will power click that field) Also, this means that the modifiers can be any combination as long as "uncover" is different from "flag".
Drastically improved cursor status when moving over the board with/without modifiers. The "red" power hand is only displayed when over a field that can be power-clicked.
Version 0.9.8 limited high score names to 32 characters, but allowed any number of characters to be entered. Now only 32 characters can be typed in.
Added preprocessor conditionals to support 68K machines. Reworked PRNG to support them (reverted back to Toolbox Random() call instead of URandomLib).
You can now change the field "size" even when the Mega Minesweeper playing window is not open.
Minor code optimizations
You can find more information on the product at the company's web site. Mega Minesweeper is freeware.
