New Mac-Only Auction Web Site Launched
A new Mac-only auction site has been launched to cater to Mac users. Computers Northwest has launched MacAuction.com and is offering sign-up specials for the first two weeks of operation. According to Computers Northwest:

Computers Northwest today announced the opening of its new online auction site, MacAuction.com. The net's most comprehensive, Macintosh-only auction site, MacAuction features a user-friendly interface modeled on the same principles of intuition and simplicity as the Mac OS interface. For a low placement fee, MacAuction members will be able to put up for auction virtually any Macintosh computer, software or peripheral. MacAuction's auctions have all the features of other large auction sites including an email notification system, a customized "My MacAuction" page for each user and fully automated bid management.

Other than its user-friendly interface, MacAuction offers significant benefits over Amazon, ebay and other general auction sites. Because MacAuction is a mac–only site, sellers can be sure they are reaching an audience of mac-users. Similarly, buyers are spared the trouble of wading through dozens of pages listing Wintel boxes and Furbys. MacAuction also has a simple, low charge for auctions which is based on category rather than the final selling price. Users will therefore know all of their charges up-front and right away. Charges will run from $2 for software to $5 for CPU's.

For the first two weeks of operation (through Aug. 10), MacAuction will be completely free for all users. MacAuction members will be able to buy, bid and sell as much as they want at absolutely no charge. In addition, MacAuction will be giving away space for banner advertising for one month at no charge. Companies interested in advertising on MacAuction should send email to [email protected].

So head over to MacAuction.com and check out their new services.

The Mac Observer Spin: MacAuction.com joins the ranks of AuctionMac.com as the only two Mac-only auction sites on the planet (that we know of). Hopefully the competition between the two sites will bring even more awareness to the services. Having Mac-only services like these are invaluable to the Mac community.
