CharisMac Engineering, Inc. made burning CDs even easier today with the latest release of their popular Macintosh CD mastering software product, Discribe. Discribe V2.57 adds enhanced drag-and-drop capabilities as well as the ability to burn bootable CDs, to their comprehensive, easy-to-use package.
Users can now create data or audio CDs in a variety of formats simply by dragging files, folders, audio tracks or entire volumes over the Discribe interface. Discribe also allows users to create bootable CDs. Discribe adds these features to a product which has been praised for adding high-end audio features such as disc-at-once audio into an affordable CD mastering package.
Discribe recently announced support for ATAPI (Attachment Packet Interface) CD-recordable (CD-R) and CD re-writable (CD-RW) devices. The ATAPI bus architecture in the new G3 line of Macintosh computers allows Mac users to leverage the immense volume of ATAPI devices sold into the PC arena to bring technologies like CD-R/RW to the desktop at an affordable cost. Discribe is the first CD mastering program to ship an ATAPI compliant version for the Mac.
Discribe offers support for the creation of HFS, ISO-9660, Hybrid and Audio CDs. ISO-9660 and Hybrid CDs can be read on both a Mac and a PC. Discribe supports virtually all SCSI, ATAPI, USB and Firewire CD-R and CD-RW drives for the Macintosh.
CD Audio and CD Copy Built In
Discribe's built-in audio support gives the professional or home audio burner total control over the Audio CD mastering process. With Discribe, users can simply drag mounted audio CD tracks onto the interface for automatic digital audio extraction.
Discribe also lets the user adjust the pre-gap, or time between songs, rearrange the order of audio tracks and sample extracted songs by simply double-clicking on the audio track in the list. Discribe lets users write audio CDs in either disc-at-once or track-at-once mode. Discribe also includes a CD-copy feature that lets users copy data and audio CDs.
Universal CD-ROM Acceleration Driver
Discribe includes a universal CD driver that supports all CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW devices as readers. With the universal driver support, no other extension is needed to use the internal Apple CD-ROM drive in conjunction with your CD-R/RW drive.
