Apple fell for the second day in a row, though the stock traded as high as 62 during the day's trading. Apple closed at 60 1/8, a loss of 3/16 or 0.31%. Volume was moderately heavy with 4,173,400 shares trading hands.
The PC companies hd mixed results with Dell and Gateway 2000 closing sharply up, and IBM, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard closing down.
The Dow and the Nasdaq both ended the day in negative territory with the Dow closing at 10991.38, a loss of 125.70, and the Nasdaq closed at 2657.73, down 13.49.
