Aladdin Systems' has announced Stuffit Expander 5.1. The new version adds PC decoding capabilities with both the .zip and .uu formats being supported. Other features according to Aladdin:

- Now includes FREE Zip (.zip) and Gzip (.gz) expansion - Two of the most popular compression formats for PC files
- Now includes .uu decoding- UUencoding is a popular PC encoding method, similar to Macintosh's BinHex
- Now has Roman language text encoding conversion built-in - No extensions or external files required
- StuffIt Expander now provides easy and convenient access to Internet Config settings for all supported file formats with its new Internet Config Preference.
- New helper application support is included for processing additional file formats. StuffIt Expander now searches for an available "helper" application on a user's hard disk to access files
- StuffIt Expander is smaller, making it faster to download
Aladdin has added a host of new features when coupled with Stuffit Expander's other abilities makes the utility extremely handy. The product is Freeware as usual and can be downloaded directly from Aladdin's web site.
